Mr. Petkovski is a senior Energy Industry executive that has worked in the Middle East North African (MENA) region, Australia and PNG for most of his career. He has a very strong technical background having worked as both a geologist and a geophysicist successfully discovering and commercialising oil and gas resources within countries ranging from the Middle East to Australasia. Mr. Petkovski has over 30 years’ experience in the international upstream oil and gas industry and has held various managerial and senior technical roles with large E&P companies including BP, Ampolex Ltd, Oil Search Ltd, and most recently with Petsec Energy Limited as CEO of their MENA business. He consults as an independent on CPR assignments.
Maki has previously held Directorship roles with several private and public companies. He is currently the the CEO of Petko Petroleum Pty Limited, a public unlisted company, and was the Managing Director of its former subsidiary Petroleum Production International Limited. As the Managing Director he secured the purchase rights to both the 100 million barrel Tenge Oil & Gas Field and the Doshan oil production block in Kazakhstan. Maki previously held the Managing Director’s role for Oil & Gas Exploration Limited, an unlisted public company, and the holder of gas assets within the Amadeus Basin in central Australian.
Mr. Petkovski is also a Director of the Future-Mark Trust, a private investment fund focused on real estate and the equities markets and was a Director and Company Secretary for over 10 years of Tryco Precision Engineering, a supplier of plant and equipment and maintenance services to the mining and coal industries in the Australasian region.
Since 1999 Mr. Petkovski has been engaged with leading multi-disciplinary teams focused on the operatorship of a number of production blocks and exploration blocks, most recently with Petesec Energy Limited and with Oil Search Limited, in the Republic of Yemen. Mr. Petkovski was personally responsible for the discovery of the Al Meashar Basement Oilfield in Block 7 in 2010 having provided the location coordinates of the Al Meashar-1 well and was also responsible for the discovery of the Nabrajah Oilfield in Block-43 in 2004 having first mapped the field and provided the coordinates for the discovery well Nabrajah-1. During this period Maki had provided geologic and geophysical support, as well as leading teams, working on both exploration and production assets in Egypt, Tunisia, and in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Prior to 1999 Maki contributed technical expertise with Oil Search Limited and Ampolex Limited within asset teams managing exploration and production projects across various other regions from MENA to Australasia. The countries within MENA included Yemen, Oman, Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria. In the Australasia region both exploration and producing assets were located Papua New Guinea, Gulf of Thailand and offshore Cambodian basins as well as offshore Philippine Palawan Basins. Within Australia Maki has operational experience in the Bonaparte, Browse, and Canning Basins of the North West Shelf, with a particular focus on the development of the Jabiru, Challis, and Skua Oilfields.
Mr. Petkovski is a member of European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia, and Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
